Maniago Knife Makers

In Maniago (Italy), you will find many knifemaking factories. They created MKM, which stands for Maniago Knife Makers (www.mkm.it).

Under that name, you will find many knife models. One of the models is the knife I present in this article to you, the MALGA 6.

The 6 stands for six tools. It has one blade in magnacut, a corkscrew, awl, can opener, bottle opener, and a French fry fork. These tools are made in AISI 420. This model comes with different scales materials, but the one I have has green micarta scales.

After using it for more than a year, I can say I LOVE IT. Only two small details bother me. The first is the placement of the lanyard hole. It is on the side where the fork sticks out. So when you use the fork for eating your fries and you have a lanyard hanging, you have to pinch it between your fingers. The second small change I would make is that I would give the awl a sharp edge.

The shape and model fall under the category SAK (Swiss Army Knives), a multifunctional knife created for the Swiss army. However, it has its roots in France. But that is a historical story for a future article.
