Whiskey & Knives

The Vauclair brewery

In northeastern France, in the Haute-Marne (52) department, there is a small village named Giey-sur-Aujon. In that village, you will find the Vauclair brewery. They are known for the delicious beers they brew, but since this year they have also been known for their whiskeys (two different ones); one is a cask-strength with a lot of potential. The idea was to have an open-door event with some animation—in this case, some knifemakers with beautiful handmade knives to attract interested people; ladies and gentlemen who like a good drink and appreciate handmade cutting art. So Goibniu (Irish god of brewers and blacksmiths) asked some brave knifemakers to come and show their pieces. Franck Souville, Alex Dubois, and Benjamin Laraud agreed to be present at the event. So last Saturday, the 7th of December, those three makers showed their knives to the visitors. With a good whiskey in hand, some new contacts were made.

The weather was somewhat responsible for the lack of visitors. But we are not capable of bending the rules of nature. All in all, we had a good day of talking and tasting. The brewery owner was satisfied, and that is what we need: happy people in life.

Goibniu rates the whiskey with: ### 1/2  and the makers with: #### .

In the link below you find more about the brewery and the makers.
